The Stratford and District Agricultural Society, which manages the busy Stratford Farmers Market on Saturdays, has raised thousands of dollars in support of the United Way Perth-Huron over the years.
This past weekend saw society directors, members and volunteers prepare breakfast sandwiches featuring many local, homegrown foods that Perth County is famous for.
This included Perth Pork Producers back bacon, eggs from Perth Egg Farmers, a locally baked bun sponsored by Perth County grain farmers, and cheese and chocolate milk from Perth County Dairy Producers.
All this was assembled and served up to hungry marketgoers by the agricultural society and United Way volunteers at the market.
There was a lineup most of the morning and, by noon, hundreds of dollars had again been raised for the local United Way, where 100 per cent of the money donated helps support local partner organizations.
The society directors who put in the work year after year said they are so happy to be helping out an organization like the United Way, where dollars go to help so many people and organizations in need in the area.
