Communities and organisations across Huron County are receiving $610,807 in provincial investments.

On May 15, Lisa Thompson, MPP Huron-Bruce made announcements in communities across Huron County, including at Goderich Town Hall.

Through the 2026 Experience Ontario Program, the Town of Goderich will receive $19,996 for the Goderich Salt and Harvest Festival.

“These investments will enhance the ability of local organisations to bring communities together through events and celebrations,” said MPP Thompson.

The Ontario government is investing more than $20 million in 396 festivals and events across Ontario this year.

Delivered through Experience Ontario 2026, this investment is the largest in three years and will support the greatest number of festivals and events, strengthen tourism and support local economies.

The Town of Goderich will also receive $48,711.36 from the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG), $15,980 from the Fire Protection Grant, and $25,000 from the Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel (MHS4PSP) Program.

In total, the Town of Goderich will receive over $109,000 in provincial investments.

“These investments will strengthen emergency preparedness, improve firefighter health and safety, and support mental health initiatives for public safety personnel,” explained Thompson.

Funding from CEPG in Goderich will strengthen emergency preparedness through the purchase of a drone, portable digital signage, and a digital notification and alerting system to improve situational awareness and public communication during emergencies.

The Fire Protection Grant will allow for the purchase and utilisation of an in-house bunker gear dryer for the Goderich Fire Department. This will help ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) for volunteer firefighters can be properly cleaned and dried.

Additionally, Huron County OPP will receive $240,000 over two years through the Mobile Crisis Response Team Enhancement Grant, in partnership with the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance and Municipality of South Huron to support their community mental health initiative.

Christmas in Bayfield Committee will receive $20,000 to support holiday celebrations and tourism initiatives in the community.

“Protecting our communities starts with ensuring our frontline responders, municipalities, and community organisations have the tools and resources they need to keep residents safe and supported,” added Thompson.

“I’m very pleased to see communities across Huron County continue to receive support that will make a meaningful difference both today and into the future.”

Other municipalities receiving grants include Central Huron ($44,690), Morris-Turnberry ($32,390), Howick ($16,800), Huron East ($52,821.07), and Bluewater ($69,418.58).
