The Tillsonburg District Hospital Foundation is readying for its annual golf tournament to raise money for hospital equipment.
The annual event will be held Friday, Sept. 13 at The Bridges of Tillsonburg. The event will feature lunch, 12 holes of golf, supper at Esco Pazzo and a live auction.
Last year’s event raised $47,000 and this year the goal is $50,000. The funds raised will be used to purchase: a tonometer, Zoll defibrillator, vital sign towers, wall suction regulators, endoscope, endo eye laparoscope, coagulation analyzer, cataract machine, stretchers and an array of IT equipment.
The 2023 tournament was the first since COVID put it on hold. Coming back last year, event co-chair Lindsey Tribble said they wanted to make it better and added the live auction. Ewart McLaughlin is the auctioneer.
“It raised a lot of funds for us last year on top of the golf,” she said. “It’s almost like a show because Ewart’s so funny.”
Rather than physical items, the auction was composed of a variety of experiences. For instance, Two Girls and a Cheese Shop donated a charcuterie board as an auction item, Chrissy’s Catering donated a dinner for eight in the winner’s home and Colin Campbell donated hockey tickets.
Organizers are still looking for a few sponsors, auction items and need three more foursomes to fill the roster. Anyone interested can contact Tribble at 519-842-3611 ext.5312.
